True Sleep – What A Body Needs

The body has been likened to a machine, with all the parts working together. Each piece does its thing, while all the others around it do their thing. They then all fit together into a beautiful flow. However, not every part of your body runs at full steam all the time. Everything needs rest to heal. Sometimes this is as simple as sitting still with a good cup of tea. At other times, only true sleep will do. But how do we get this true sleep?

Sleep is fundamentally a resting state. So, in order to rest you have to slow down and put down any worries and activities that aren’t restful. A warm bath or warm cup of tea will soothe you and help your muscles relax. For even deeper muscle relaxation, try getting a massage.

Make sure you are able to breathe deeply and evenly. Sleep with plenty of ventilation in a room that isn’t too hot or too cold. One way to ease yourself into sleep is to take a few minutes to pay attention to your breathing, in and out. This is a simple form of meditation that can go a long way to helping you sleep well.

Once your muscles are relaxed and your brain is relaxed, you can fall asleep. But, in order to stay asleep you need to make sure that you have comfortable bedding. This will allow your muscles to stay relaxed and allow you to breathe easily. A firm mattress is usually beneficial, although how firm will vary from person to person. Also, a supportive pillow is a must. A buckwheat pillow is a good one to consider. Buckwheat hull pillows support the head and neck, allowing your spine to retain its natural curve. This helps eliminate neck tension and leads to better sleep.

Your body has many parts and systems that work amazingly well. However, to keep them working at top capacity, you need to allow them time to rest and restore. Allow all of your body – mental and physical – to benefit from a good night’s rest. Relax and let your bedding support you. Then, let your body do what it does best – work to make you healthy and happy.
