Arthritis Supplements

Low levels of  certain vitamins and minerals can cause a variety of ailments or can actually make an ailment worse. One example is with arthritis. There are some vitamins, minerals and nutrients that are especially beneficial for arthritis. These include:

  1. Vitamin D: Vitamin D is the vitamin that we get from the sunlight, which is why Vitamin D is often called the “Sunshine Vitamin.” Having enough exposure to sunlight is beneficial to people with or without arthritis because it boosts the powers of the vitamins that are in our body.  It was also found that adequate amounts of Vitamin D can prevent the joints deteriorating and getting osteoarthritis. Vitamin D can also be beneficial to people with arthritis because it might help in increasing the production of collagen, which is a component of our bones.
  2. Vitamin C: Vitamin C is one of the most underrated vitamins even if it can give many benefits to people especially to people with arthritis. it can boost the levels of collagen in the bones, it can work as an amino acid in protecting and fighting against the harmful and destructive enzymes that attacks the joints and other parts of the body and prevents the arthritis from progressing.
  3. Omega-3 fatty acids: This essential fatty acid is essential because when it goes inside the body, it gathers the cells for the formation of substances that are like hormones such as leukotrienes that stop the development of inflammation.
  4. Vitamin E: Vitamin E is an antioxidant that can guard joints and other body parts from harmful substances that can cause destruction in the joints. Some experts claim that Vitamin E is an effective antioxidant that is also effective for preventing arthritis from worsening. You can supplement your diet by eating more nuts and by adding canola oil, soybean oil and other oils rich in Vitamin E.

These vitamins can also be used alongside vegetarian glucosamine chondrotin supplements to improve the benefits of glucosamine at alleviating arthritis. Keep in mind that there are glucosamine chondroitin side effects, though these side effects are typically mild.
